Raghuvaran

There are very few who last in the film field on the merits of their acting alone. One such exception is Raghuvaran. A graduate in history, he made his debut in ‘Ezhavadhu Manidhan.’ Tall and lanky with a clean shaven face, the Tamil audience accepted him readily for his acting talent. ‘Kootupuzhukkal,’ ‘Kai Naatu,’ and ‘Michaelraj’ are some of the films where he played the hero, but he got more recognition for his portrayal as villain. In ‘Manidhan’ and ‘Poovizhi Vaasalile,’ Raghuvaran won the hearts of people with his anti-hero role.

In Telugu, he acted in Ramgopal Varma’s ‘Siva’ and this won him a Telugu fan following. In ‘Samsaram Adhu Minsaram,’ ‘Anjali,’ and Oru Bommukuttiammavukku,’ he left a deep impression on viewers with the strength of his character roles. His one sided love for actress Amala in the early stages of his career was his first downslide. His drug addiction was the main cause of the romance not working out. He rehabilitated himself and got busy again with his film career, fell in love with actress Rohini and married her. They got a son, but separated due to irreconcilable differences.

Raghuvaran

When Raghuvaran was going through his addiction, his friendship with Rohini, gave him strength to recover. He found spirituality and became an ardent devotee of Saibaba. He and Rohini got married.

When Raghuvaran got addicted once again to drugs, he and Rohini divorced and he stopped acting in films totally. Because of Vijay’s request, he acted as his father in ‘Sachein.’

Having taken a long break from films, Raghuvaran has decided to return to films and his first film will be under the direction of Mishkin. During his non-acting years, Raghuvaran read up extensively on spirituality and even wrote poetry, which he plans to compile and have published.

“Even after such a long gap, my place in cinema remains as it is. For my friends and fans who appreciate my acting, I will continue to act.”

We trust in Raghuvaran’s words!
