Arri is a boon to cinematographers
- 01.06.2009
There was a big crowd of cameramen at Chennai's Ritchie Street . One could spot the likes of RD Rajasekhar and Siddarth. We wondered what could have brought them there and we found out that it was Arri.
We thought Arri was the name of some heroine. A cameraman enlightened us soon that it was not so! Arri is a world famous manufacturer of high quality motion picture film equipment. For its clarity, the worth of these digital cameras are well appreciated by cameramen.
As far as Indian films are concerned, this camera has not been used. That's because it has not been available in India . The happy news now is, Stereovision that has been in the forefront of technology, providing quality backed technical equipment, has opened an exclusive Arri showroom in Ritchie Street .
View finders, lighting meters, gaffers glasses, spare parts, equipment needed for film sets, suitable clothing for cameramen etc are all available here.
"Chennai people are the ones to eagerly try out latest technical advancements. That's why we opened our first showroom here," said Alam, the president of the camera division. The new showroom was inaugurated by producer AVM Saravanan.
Arri costs around 2.5 crores. The 2nd showroom is soon to open in Mumbai. During the interview, Harish Samtani, Chairman, Arrishop and Tania Samtani, Marketing director were present
