A sudden change in the life of Lohitadas that was moving smoothly was caused by 'Kasturimaan.'  He produced the film both in Tamil and Malayalam.  Though appreciated as a good movie, he could not recoup the money invested in it.  Having suffered a severe blow from this, what all efforts he took to mend the situation also did not pay off.  Further he was frustrated in not being able to find a producer to produce his film 'Neivedhyam.'  Even in his desperate financial condition, he was smiling always.

Finally he could not suppress his pain and that pushed him to his end.  Lohitadas's miseries were evident only on attending his funeral.  The Malayalam cinema has come forward to adopt the director's family.  Mammooty has offered to underwrite the son's education expenses.
