Comedy actor Saroja’s demise

The unforgettable Tamil comedy actor M. Saroja died yesterday of heart attack. She was 79 years old. She was married to the yesteryear comedy actor ‘Danal’ Thangavelu.
Hailing from Mayiladuthurai, M. Saroja started acting in films when she was 14 years old. She was introduced by director late K. Subramaniam. Acting in 50 films pairing with K.A. Thangevelu beginning from the 50’s through the 70’s she fell in love with him and they got married (1958). After that they acted in 200 films together.
Their acting in films ‘Kalyana Parisu’ and ‘Then Nilavu’ are evergreen. M. Saroja had acted with M.G.R in films like ‘Sarvadikari’, ‘Arasillankumari’ and ‘Thirudathey’. Having acted in 300 films and several stage plays, M. Saroja was living with her daughter at Masilamani Street in T. Nagar in Chennai after her husband’s death.
Being ill for the last few months, she passed away due to heart attack and her body was kept for public homage at the T. Nagar residence. Her funeral is to take place in the Kannammapettai crematorium.
