Those who participated and expressed best wishes include: director Bharatiraja, Nadigar Sangam president Sarath Kumar, General Secretary Radha Ravi, directors Balu Mahendra, Agathiyan, Cheran, Seeman, Lingusamy, Subramania Siva, editor Mohan, producer KS Srinivasan.
Aadhirajan welcomed the audience at the function presided over by Kalaipunga Ravanan and in the presence of Abraham Lincoln. Amalan presented the introductory on the Berlin Award.
Following that, director Bharathiraja gave away the Cinema Press Club trophy to Ameer and said:
"What surprised me was the fact that Ameer could show my own village which I never did. I went to watch 'Paruthiveeran' along with my family. Returning home we never spoke about the film to each other.
After reaching home, my wife told me, "You have been in the field for so many years but could not give a film like 'Paruthiveeran.'" If the press people could appreciate it and give Ameer an award, it is more than the Berlin award and my best wishes to Ameer."
