Many leaders and film celebrities participated in the function.  The stage was decorated like a gold plated umbrella.  The wedding ceremony started at 6.00 this morning.  The bride was decked in a maroon colour s. 

Rajnikanth was dressed in silk dhotie and silm shirt and he was wearing a head gear in the Maharashtrian fashion.  His elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad was also wearing a similar head gear. 

As the priests were lighting a fire, and chanting the veda mantras Rajinikanth was seated nearby.  His daughter Soundarya was seated on his lap.  On the dot of 8 the bridegroom Ashwin tied the sacred knot as the nadaswarams played and the elders blessed.

As the muhurta mantras were chanted, the bride and the groom prostrated in front of Rajinikanth and Latha for their blessings.  Later they went around the fire.  Many film celebrities and leaders participated in the function and blessed the newly wed.
