Benazir was recently shot dead during the election campaign in Pakistan. Her life story is to be told on celluloid. The formal permission has already been taken.
Tariq Ali is a famous Pakistani theater director who has directed many popular plays. He has formally received permission from Benazir's family, even before she came to Pakistan for the ill fated election rally, to make a film on her story.
Hindi actress Shabana Azmi will do the title role of Benazir. Shabana has met Benazir when she went to speak at the Columbia University.
"Benazir had a fighting spirit. I am proud that I will be playing her in the film," says Shabana Azmi.
