Directed by Babu K Viswanath, 'Kanda' is being made with many ingredients of Thanjavur culture. Karan plays a man employed in Malaysia . He comes to Thajavur to see the teacher who had helped him secure the job in Malaysia . He sees the wonderful cultivation lands turned barren and without even attempting, he ends being embroiled in certain problems. How he emerges out of that forms the story.
Two songs and a few dialogue scenes at the start of the story have been shot in Malaysia. In one song, the heroine Mitra dances with Karan. For another song, Mumbai girl Megha Khan dances. This is the first time she is dancing for a Tamil film.
Dance master Manoj has choreographed the songs shot in Malaysia. Sibiyon, an assistant of Thiru, has done the cinematography. As he is wielding the camera for 'Kanda,' he is also doing the cinematography for 'Agarathi.'
