It is Rajini's habit to visit Thirupati before starting and after completion of a film. With the film 'Robo' about to start, he came to Thirupati and the news he got from Chennai was not to his taste.
Though 'Sivaji' made record collections, out of 8 distributors who bought the rights 3 have lost money. But they had not made this public as yet.
The practice in the industry is to grant the rights of the next film at a lower rate and compensate such distributors who had to face losses. When 'Baba' made losses to distributors, Rajini himself compensated the loss.
As news about Rajini's next film 'Robo' got confirmed, the three distributors who had made losses had sent a request to Rajini for the compensation of their losses.
Nag Ravi who bought Chengleput and Puducheri rights at Rs. 4 crore and 65 lakhs collected only Rs. 3 crore and thirty lakhs. Prakash who bought the rights of Selam, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri for Rs.5 crore and 50 lakhs had a loss of Rs.1 crore and 20 lakhs. The distributor who bought the rights for Tanjavur, Pudukottai and Trichy lost more than Rs. 1 crore.
As A.V.M. had not taken their request seriously, the distributors have taken up the matter with Rajini.
They hope that Rajini on his return to Channai would consider their request favourably.
