The trust run by Raghava Lawrence is rendering healthcare and educational aid to physically challenged orphaned children. For that purpose he has even vacated his own house built with a lot of affection and love to house the orphans while he lives in a rented house.
"I was suffering from brain tumour when I was a child and saved from death. I know the sufferings of the orphans," claims Lawrence. Now he has taken upon himself to conduct surgery for 36 poor children who have a heart problem.
Introducing the children to the media, Lawrence said, "We know how we suffer even if our children catch a cold and so we can understand how the parents of these children would suffer," and appealed for generous help. That made even the cameras that shot him shed tears.
When a boy from Madurai who had already undergone a heart surgery said,
"Thank you," it appeared as if God himself said so.
Moved by Lawrence's appeal director Perarasu handed over a cheque for Rs.50000 with an assurance of handing over his salary for the songs written by him for the film 'Pondi.' The Cinema Press Club agreed to donate Rs.10,000.
