Seenu Ramasamy is one of the few Kollywood directors with leanings towards literature. He has worked as assistant to Balu Mahendra and Seeman. We met him for a chat.

What is the story of 'Koodal Nagar'?

"A pure character is referred to in villages as "vellendhi." My film's hero is one such character. At the same time, he has qualities as diverse as fire and water.

Bharath, Sandhya

Is that why there are two heroines Bhavana and Sandhya?

"If I answer that, my whole story will be out. When I signed on Sandhya, her film 'Kaadhal' had not yet been released. I had already made up my mind that she would play the heroine role. The same goes for Bhavana and Bharath!"

'Pithamagan' Mahadevan, and Ilavarasu also feature in the film. Rohini does an important role. Pazhanibharathi, Na Muthukumar and Nandalala are the important literary comrades of Seenu Ramasamy. Aptly, they have written the lyrics in the film. Thenmozhi has also written lyrics for a song. Four songs have already been composed by Sabesh-Murali.
