Though Jyotika is a Muslim, the marriage took place according to Hindu tradition. Jyotika wore a fabulous silk sari embellished with gold work as well as lots of ornaments including an odiyaanam and chutti. Surya was clad in silk veshti and shirt.

Along with Karunanidhi, other ministers like Arcot Veersamy attended the function. Ex-chief minister Jayalalitha also blessed the couple in person. Since the reception continued after the muhurtham, from 8am, the VIP guests started arriving. Rajini, Kamal, Vijay, Khushboo and other stars were present. The reception will continue till 12 noon.

A special meeting for the press will be held tomorrow (Sept 12) at noon at Residency Hotel, Chennai.
