Somehow the two of them did not work together after that and now Varma has decided to rectify that. Varma felt the Telugu film field had no respect for his talent and moved to Hindi films. There, he not only directed different genre of Hindi films, he also produced films with novel story lines, directed by young, upcoming directors. Many, who dream of making a career in films, make a beeline to his Company.
Varma is at present directing Amitabh Bachchan in a film. He is also to produce a Hindi film titled ‘Siva’ after his first film and Ilayaraja is to compose music for it. The hero has not yet been finalized but Varma’s current favorite heroine Amoga is to be the leading lady. Varma is the producer and the director will be someone else.
Till now, Ilayaraja has generally been composing music mainly for Tamil films, so his genius is not well known in Bollywood. This year, Ilayaraja composes music for a film starring Amitabh Bachchan with PC Sriram as cinematographer. He also has ‘Siva.’ With these two films, his fans believe that Ilayaraja’s genius should touch Bollywood also.
When that happens, that will be a proud moment for us as well.
