Lately Vijayakanth's films have not been very successful. In fact, they were all failures. Vijayakanth's 150th film 'Arasangam' was started after the launch of the party when there were no hit films. Directed by Madhesh, the film has Navnit and Sheryl as two heroines.
Though it is usual criminal and police story, the fast paced screenplay made the film a success.
Perhaps Vijayakanth had an inkling of it. Shooting of his new film 'Engal Aasan' is taking place in Pollachi region. He gave a feast with biriyani to the 'Engal Aasan' unit on 9th of May when 'Arasangam' was released.
With the success of 'Arasangam,' Vijayakanth has a unique track record of being the only Tamil actor to have his 100th and 150th films labeled as success.
