Personalities of Tamil film field got together last evening to plan on the course of action to protest against targeting of Eelam Tamils by Srilanka. The representatives of all film organizations participated in this.
D Ramanarayanan, President of Producers Association, and Bharatiraja, President of Directors Association, spoke to the press about the decisions made.
"The Tamil filmdom has decided to stage a protest to stop ethnic killings as well as attacks on Tamils in Srilanka, Accordingly, shooting for 3 days on Oct 18, 19 and 20 will be cancelled.
On 19th, we plan a protest march in Rameswaram where we will voice our opposition to the Srilankan govt's actions against Tamils. Till a solution is found for the Srilankan problem, everyone in the film field will wear a black badge.
Hurling of bombs in the Tamil area during general meetings should be stopped. The Indian govt should extend help to those affected. India and Srilanka should give up the joint patrol pan. These are some of the demands we intend to stress on."
