Zee Network now steps into Tamil too

For Tamil viewers, who already have a feast of programs, The Zee Network is adding to their joy by starting its Tamil channel.

The launching of the new channel took place yesterday at Taj Coromandel hotel in Chennai.

Puneet Goenka, CEO of  Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited and G Ramprasad, CEO, Zee South and V Chandrasekar of Zee Thamizh, spoke to the press.

"The Zee Network is one of the top television networks in India . From today, it steps into the Tamil field. It will be a complete entertainment channel with mega serials, game shows and cultural shows.

The Zee Network has the distinction of being the first private channel to start operations in India . It was started in 1992 by Subash Chandrawal and step by step has grown into a company with more than 30 TV channels.

In 1998, Zee started telecasting in the US . In north India , it is running successful channels in Hindi, Marathi and Bengali. In south India , Zee has been telecasting in Telugu and Kannada. It now starts its journey in Tamil.

Seasoned artistes like veteran director K Balachander, actress Khushboo and Prabhu Nepaul have been roped in to produce new serials, talk shows and programs to suit every age group. Up to date news is also a part.

The popular Saregama music program that's creating waves in Zee's other regional language channels, will take shape as Sangetha Maha Yudham in Tamil."

Like other channels, Zee intends to step into film production too. Zee has bought the rights of 'Arasangam,' 'Sila Nerangalil,' 'Kaalai Panni' and 'Subramaniapuram.'
