"It is 9 years since I entered the film field, but I've not reached the masses. That's because of the films and directors. That's why I decided to become a director and elevate myself," said actor turned director Jai Akash.

Dr. Ibrahim Pasha Rafat Malik produces 'Kaadhalan Kaadhali' for Prestige Films. Jai Akash stars in and directs the film. Co-starring with him are newcomers Daisy Bopanna, Nidhi Subbiah and Suhasini. Nidhi has acted in the Fair & Lovely ad.

With 3 heroines, is it a triangular love story? "There's no such stale slant in my story. This is quite different. Whether the film's a super hit or not, as a director I can guarantee that it will not flop," says Jai Akash with confidence.

Why have you not had a turning point in your career after so many years of acting?

The success or failure of a film lies in the hands of a director. Actors are like puppets. They must do what the director tells them to. I was also a puppet, that's why there's been no turning point in my career. That's why I've entered the director domain.

When acting in 'Rojavanam,' I trained as assistant director with the director of Telugu film 'Anandam.' With that experience, I make my debut as director."
