Vijay has always wanted to act in a totally commercial film by Hari. Hari also has wanted for long to direct Vijay in a film. It is said that Hari wanted to direct Vijay in 'Vel' but Vijay refused his call sheet saying he was busy with 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.' 'Vel' was a great hit while 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan' flopped. After that, Vijay was to star in 'Seval,' it is learnt.
But Hari cast Bharath in the lead role. Also, when Vijay's side asked for the 'Seval' title, it is said that Hari refused.
At a function 2 days back, he announced that the hero of his next film 'Singam' would be Surya and this shocked the Vijay group.
According to Kodambakkam, it is said that Hari announced his title of 'Singam' even before 'Seval' got completed, because Vijay was considering that title.
