Udaya made his film debut with 'Thirunelveli.' He is the son of producer AL Azhagappan. None of his films made any great impact, and after a long break, he acted in Sanjay Ram's 'Poova Thalaya.'
When Udaya met reporters, he shared his past grievances and present happiness.
"From a young age, I grew up watching the cinema field. Since my father is a producer, I learnt everything about the film field. I made my acting debut because I wanted to become a top actor in Tamil films. But nothing worked out. Stories of 'Godse' and 'Kaadhal Jaadhi' were good but unfortunately stopped half way.
In this situation, I got the acting offer in 'Poova Thalaya.' I do the rough character Koduva Pandu. Having done soft characters till now, director Sanjay Ram has made me entirely different in this film. I wear only black shirt and white veshti throughout the film. I'm sure this film will give a turning point in my career. Even if I become a big actor in future, I will not take more than 10lakhs per month as fee," says Udaya.
His happiness has more causes. He has become the proud father of a baby boy. 'Poi Solla Porom' directed by his younger brother Vijay has been well received. Only after he has made a mark as hero in a film, would Udaya act under his brother Vijay's direction.
