On the 10th of this month, Simbu learnt at a Chennai hotel that his car had been stolen. In an inebriated state, Simbu is said to have created a ruckus according some reports being released in the media. On this issue, Simbu met the press this afternoon and expressed his anguish while refuting the charges.
"From Sept 3 till 14, I was shooting for 'Silambattam' in Srilanka. On 10th, my brother Kuralarasan took the Montia car and went to a hotel on Anna Salai for dinner. On coming out, he found his car missing and called up home to give the news. The hotel employees told us that our driver had taken the car.
Following this, an FIR was lodged at the police station. We have proof of that. At that time, I was in Srilanka. The proof is in my passport and visa. (Simbu's father T Rajender showed the proof). When this is the truth, wrong reports in the press say I was drunk and created a racket. This has hurt me and my family.
You have all written a lot of gossip about me. I have become numb to that. But I cannot understand why I continue to be a target of wrong reportage. I do not drink. So, someone is out to damage my image by spreading false rumours about me. I request you to kindly stop targeting me."
Speaking before Simbu, T Rajender said, angrily, "Someone who does not like my son's rising up in the film field, is wantonly out to damage his reputation. If some actress slips, the press writes that Simbu is at fault. I'm going to sue the papers that have featured such wrong information, for several lakhs in damages."
