When his cell phone rang, Simbu took it from his assistant and answered. In a few minutes, his eyes brimmed over with tears. The unit members thought he was trying out glycerin for a sad scene, when he said ‘grandpa!’ and started to sob.
In panic, the unit rushed to Simbu and found that his grandfather Desingh Udaiyar (T Rajendar’s father) had passed away in Mayiladuthurai. Suffering for some time from ill health, he had been hospitalized.
Yesterday morning, T Rajendar had visited his 80 year old father at hospital for his blessings before embarking on his election work. But this morning, his health deteriorated further and he passed away around 3.30am.
Simbu and his grandfather shared a very special relationship from the time he was a little boy. As soon as the sad news reached him, Simbu left shooting and hastened to Mayiladuthurai.
