Wherever the film has fetched big returns, it is still running well. The general opinion about the film is that the story is not strong enough to bear the weight of the 10 incarnations. But the general public anyways enjoys watching the film.
But in minor publications, and from knowledgeable Islamic and Dalit people, 'Dasavataram' has come in for a lot of flak. While other avatars are shown as beautiful people, the Dalit personality Vincent Boovaraghavan is shown as dark and ugly. Is being Dalit mean the person is dark and ugly? While most characters in the film except the villain escape from death, why is Boovaraghavan subject to a gory death?
Habibullah Khan is portrayed like a clown. It looks like a Hindu propaganda that Muslims are generally uneducated and have lots of children.
Many more such accusations have been leveled against 'Dasavataram.' Reacting to it, Kamal Hassan says the film is intended to please everybody in general but it's true that there are however some flaws all the same.
His next production 'Marmayogi' is also about all sections of people, said Kamal.
