The hero is young Aravind from Sun Music and the heroine is Deepa Chari from Mumbai. Raghuman and Suhasini play important roles.
Instead of his regular composer Bharani, Murali Krishna has signed on Yugendran. He is singing praises of Yugendran's songs and also speaks about his film.
"The hero is a graduate and Raghuman is a police officer and what happens between them is the test of strength. Other characters, music, climax all add strength to the film, so I gave the film's title as 'Balam.'
Suhasini plays the hero's sister-in-law. When I told her the story, she said it's ages since she heard a story like that. She's a talented actress and the wife of a great director, so to get such a certificate from her gave me extra strength. In 20 days, we have completed 60% of the shooting. One chase scene is to take place in the climax scene."
