It has become very common place for directors to don the grease. Samudrakani is putting on weight and reducing and building his physique for his roles, like Kamal.

He was assistant director in 'Anni' serial. 'He became director through 'Unnai Saranadainthen.' He is presently directing Radhika's serial 'Arasi.'

Director Sasi Kumar has steered him now to films. Samudrakani is doing the vilain role in 'Subramanyapuram' that he is directing. After this, he is directing a production of Radaan TV. After this is over, he is to act in a production of Abhinaya Creations titled 'Naadagam.' He plays a dual role. One is a hefty body builder role of around 150kgs weight. The other is of an ordinary man of about 80kgs weight.

Samudrakani is working hard on his physique and has lost 10kgs now.

Samudrakani was to direct a film produced by Ameer but that has been shelved. So, there's talk that there's a chance of Samudrakani doing the villain role in 'Yogi' that stars Ameer as the hero.
