After the national award, the award that has most prestige associated with it is the Filmfare awards. Though the awards are primarily for Hindi films and Bollywood film fraternity, for the past few years, they also have a separate award function for regional films.

Some interesting stuff happened at the award function that took place day before yesterday. Abhishek Bachchan got best supporting actor for 2006 from his fiancée Aishwarya Rai.

Similarly, the lifetime achievement award was presented to Jaya Bachchan by her husband Amitabh Bachchan. The whole auditorium clapped like crazy.

Hritik Roshan got best actor award for 'Dhoom 2' and Kajol got best actress award for 'Fanaa.' Rajesh Mehra got best director award for 'Rang de Basanti.'

The songs of 'Rang de Basanti' were so popular last year that the composer of the film A R Rehman got the award for best music composer.
