The International Tamil Film Academy and Seventh Channel are conducting a 4 day festival of films about environmental issues. The festival started yesterday at the Film Chamber theatre in Chennai.
Speaking on the occasion, Madhavan said, "I used to be scared of acting in non-commercial films. Even if they had good messages, I was afraid they would be a financial loss to the producers. After doing 'Evano Oruvan,' I have changed my mind. I have the urge to do something for the society we live in. That's why after the film was complete, I joined as co-producer.
Even if a film is a box office flop, I have decided not to bother about that, but continue to act in films dealing with social issues.
This film festival deals with environmental issues and everyone must see it. Despite being advised umpteen times not to use plastic, no one heeds the warning. So many lie by the roadside in drunken stupor. People just pass by without any concern. If we do not show concern for the environment we live in, we will ourselves be contributing to our disastrous future."
