The film got released everywhere yesterday but theatre owners in Madurai and surroundings were too scared to release the film in their theatres. The film's director P V Prasad is accusing the ruling party and Azhagiri for this state of affairs since his film has been released by Sun Pictures.
Talking to the press yesterday after the screening, P V Prasad hurled his accusations.
"The Madurai people are not able to see my film 'Kaadhalil Vizhundein.' Some rowdies citing MK Azhagiri's name threatened to kill the theater owners. So, they are afraid to screen the film.
Who are these guys to threaten that people should not see a creation that has been made through the sweat of hundreds of people? When I wanted to complain to the Producers Association President D Ramanarayanan, he has turned off his phone. Politics has entered cinema. Madurai seems like a separate country with its own laws. When the police are approached for security, they are afraid to even take the complaint.
I have created this first film of mine through by blood and sweat and my entire future depends on how this film is received. I want the Madurai people to also see the film. The Tamilnadu govt that is in power is responsible for that. They have to arrest the thugs who intimidate and threaten and take action against them.
If that is not done, I will bring together the acting fraternity and film technicians and stage a protest. I will walk to Madurai to ask for justice. I will not rest till I find a solution to this," said PV Prasad in anger.
