He wrote the screenplay and directed the national award winning 'Sintha Nishtayaaya Syamala.' This was made into the less appealing version 'Chidambarathil Oru Appasamy' by Thankar Bachan.
Till date, Thankar has not acknowledged that 'Appasamy' is a remake of Srinivasan's film. In order to save money, he did not approach Srinivasan directly for the remake rights. He sent his assistant, as if for remaking for him, paid a few thousands for the remaking rights, but used it himself. Not only did he hide the matter about re-making, he also did not acknowledge that the story is Srinivasan's.
Srinivasan's 'Kadhaparayum Poll' is being re-made into 'Kuchelan' starring Rajini. Naturally the Tamil press is all out to speak to Srinivasan, who is happy that he is at last getting his due acknowledgement.
In 'Kadhaparayum Poll,' Srinivasan did the self respecting role of one did not approach his actor friend Mammootty, despite being not too well off. In contrast, the Tamil version is called 'Kuchela' after one who went to Krishna for help. Srinivasan has raised this question to P Vasu about the title being misleading.
Since this is a valid question, the title could most probably be changed!
