Day before yesterday, Dr. Rajasekar, his wife Jeevitha and 2 children took part in a temple festival and answered questions from the press.
When asked about Chiranjeevi entering politics, he answered, "Till now Chiranjeevi has not said anything about it. It's the media that is unnecessarily making a big thing out of it."
It was a straight answer but instead of leaving it at that, the media egged him on if he would support Chiranjeevi if he entered politics. Instead of saying yes or no, he responded with, "Chiranjeevi has no experience in politics."
This angered Chiranjeevi fans, further boosted by television channels that repeatedly telecast Rajasekar's honest remarks.
Yesterday morning, Rajasekar was proceeding with his family from the Secunderabad railway station to his house in Hyderabad. Chiranjeevi fans waylaid the car and threw stones, breaking the glass. Rajasekar was injured on his shoulders and face. It is said his children were also hurt.
Following this rowdy incident, Rajasekar and his daughter were admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. Not content with injuring the actor, the fans burnt effigies of Rajasekar in many places.
Having noted these scenes on the television with horror, Chiranjeevi hastened to Rajasekar's house and apologized to him. On both of them giving a joint interview, the matter was brought under control.
