The Telugu film ‘Ready’ was a super hit. Its Kannada remake also being a super hit commercially, ‘Ready’ is being made in Tamil as ‘Uthama Puthiran.’ It is produced by Ramesh Tandra and Mohan Apparao of Balaji Studios Pvt Ltd that is a popular producer of Telugu and Hindi films.

Dhanush plays the lead role. Genelia, who played the heroine in ‘Ready,’ is the heroine of the Tamil version too. The film is directed by Mithran K Jawahar, who directed the hit film ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ that ran for 175 days as well as the commercially successful ‘Kutty.’ He has the distinction of directing 3 films in a row starring the same hero.
 
Despite being busy with Bollywood films, Genelia was eager to act in the ‘Ready’ remake and gave her shooting dates readily. Dhanush adjusted his dates to her availability and shooting is progressing.
 
Others in the cast include Bhagyaraj, Vivek, Karunaas, Ashish Vidyarthi, Jaiprakash Reddy, master Bharath, Mayilsamy, R Sunderrajan, Vijaybabu, Srinath, Uma Padmanabhan, Vivek Vasu, Nithya Sita, Uma Rani and Aarthi.
 
A mix of action and comedy, ‘Uthama Puthiran’ is being made as a family entertainer on a grand scale like ‘Chandramukhi,’ ‘Gilli’ and ‘Sivaji.’ The songs are to be shot overseas.
