Aval peyar Thamizharasi
Beauty + Thamizh M.A. = Aval peyar Thamizharasi!
The story is about the hero who goes in search of his childhood love. It can be termed as pilgrimage of love. Jai has acted in a character that goes through 3 seasonal changes.
‘Thol paavai koothu’ is one of the now forgotten performing arts. The artists here would perform koothu by staying in a place for 10 days. It is believed that on the tenth day it would rain!
A nomadic family visits a village to perform Thol paavai koothu. Relationship develops between Nandaki, a girl of that family and the grandson of the village chief. At the end of the performance that family prepares to leave the village. Jai, the grandson of the village chief pleads with the grandfather that the koothu family should stay in the village. The grandfather concedes and spares the family with a place to live in the village. It also enables Nandaki to pursue her school education.
As Nandaki pursues her education up to 12th the relationship between Jai and Nandaki transforms into love. When the results come, Nandaki is declared first in the district, but Jai faces failure. Jai suspects that Nandaki may desert him and is worried that she would go away.
Wanting to pursue her education Nandaki gets an opportunity to study in a College in Pune. Jai wonders why contrary to the habit Nandaki had not taken leave of him when she went to Pune. Getting wrong advice from friends Jai spoils Nandaki.
Only after the event he realizes his grave mistake. Seeking remorse and wanting to apologise, Jai goes to her house in the early morning. But he finds the place locked. He started to wait for her to return. After some time getting to know that she had returned he goes to visit her.
He finds Thamizharasi’s mother assaulting her and she was pestering her to learn who was responsible for that. But she refuses to give any answer. Thamizharasi’s mother commits suicide. After that the family gets shattered. We are curious to know what would happen in the second half but the director has not dealt with it to meet our expectations.
Ganja karuppu appears twice or thrice in the name of comedy. All Jai’s friends make us laugh. Narrated in the flash back mode the director makes us involved with the film from the start itself. But as we can guess what next, it becomes slightly boring.
Vijay Antony’s music makes us keep the beat along. In some places music misses to make itself heard. Muthiah’s cinematography goes along with the story. His capturing the rural greenery and the barrenness is captivating.
Moser Baer and Blue Ocean have jointly produced this film. They had already produced successful films like ‘Poo’ and ‘Kanden kaadhalai’. But it is a question mark if this film would continue the success story?
