Aadatha Attamellam
The story is a weapon. But without sharpening it, there is a danger of losing out not only on the audience but making the producer's life difficult too.
The life of Ravi Ganesh and his elder sister Jennie Jasmine becomes like a ship without the captain when their parents die in an accident. But relying only on determination, Jennie brings up her brother. When she gets married and goes away, Ravi Ganesh suffers from loneliness and he takes to the wrong path. The story is that of a young hero addicted to alcohol whose love, goal and future turns into a big question mark. The message that addiction will make the future a dark place comes through very powerfully. But the screenplay is a great let down that causes the audience to crowd at the canteen. Ravi Ganesh who does well after the interval should have shown his capacity to act even in the first half. This basketball champion who chooses to play in a different team that makes him a slave to addiction driving him to make wrong decisions comes through as a very good lesson to the youth who make wrong choices.
Jennie Jasmine acts in the role of the elder sister for the hero. In many places she comes through as very artificial. The comedy of the friends group is too jarring to the ear. Bharathi as a heroine has not been utilized properly. It is better not to talk of Mansoor Ali Khan who appears as an inspector. The songs composed by Rehana sound as elaborate essays. The background score is equally lackluster.
'Aadatha attamellam' is a good story on torn paper.
