Nenjathai Killadhey
Agathiyan has tried to make another 'Kaadhal Kottai.' Because of the dragging screenplay, the love gets punctured.
Vikranth dines at a star hotel, does not pay the bill, and goes to the police station. One thinks that maybe he's a jobless poor youth but the next scene reveals that he's the son of millionaire Manivannan.
When questioned about why he had done such a thing, Vikranth says casually, "All for the experience." This is just a sample of his behavior pattern.
This is the same way he treats love too. With wounding words, he hurts Bharathi when she declaresher love for him. At one stage he falls in love with Bharathi and stands before her in abject surrender. What Bharathi's decision would be forms the climax.
There are many confusing aspects in Vikranth's character, but one thing that's for sure is, he has shown some realistic acting in the film, an improvement from his earlier films.
Knowing that his younger sister is in love, Vikranth tries hard to unite her to her man, but what does the director have to say for his own callous rejection of Bharathi, who reveals her love for him.
In the play of words between hero and heroine, there is beautiful poetry and Agathiyan shines here for his dialogues.
On knowing that his father has another wife, there is delicacy in the way Vikranth accepts their relationship.
Bharathi goes on a spin when she tries to retaliate to Vikranth's wounding behavior. When the hero visits her, she makes him wait and then sends him off with a coffee. Scenes like that are made interestingly.
The scene where hero and heroine test their self control in the house boat, catch your attention. Is water masculine or feminine? The director gives an interesting answer to this through the hero!
There are many interesting moments in the film, so it's a puzzle, why Agathiyan dragged the screenplay as he has done. Since a major part of the film deals with verbal conflicts between Vikranth and Bharathi, we are invariably left with a feeling of being given 'coffee' and sent off.
Premji's music is like prose narration.
'Nenjathai Killadhey' has a sharp nail.
