It is a very enjoyable love story that lets you enjoy the wonderful romantic moments of the young.
On an unusually busy day Simbu meets up with angel-like Trisha with her loose hair fluttering the wind. The chemical change that is normal in such an age makes him fall in love with her. Denying it in the beginning, hiding it for some time he makes false vows so that he won’t go beyond the limits. Finally friendship yielded to exchange of love for each other. But as ever, religion and community intervene only to be overwhelmed by love.
Owing to bitterness they had to face failure and so they get separated. But their uniting together is narrated by Gautam Menon with a difference in the climax, but not without some confusion.
Crazy about cinema Simbu is a mechanical engineer who is a Tamil falls in love with middle class Malayali girl working for Polaris. The feelings of their closeness and separation were filmed beautifully.
Simbu suits this story perfectly. Ordinary to begin with, Simbu becomes one with us as the story progresses. He has performed his role beautifully especially when he expresses his confused state of mind. But, why such closeness and why separation?
A.R.Rehman-Gautam Menon combination steal our hearts from the very beginning. A.R.Rehman’s music paints every scene with new colours. There are no words to express such happiness
Rehman deserves yet another Oscar for the way in which he has mixed Thirukural in the song ‘mannippaya…’. ‘Omapenney’ and ‘Hosana’ are this year’s songs for the youth.
Ganesh’s role as Simbu’s friend is an interesting character and it has compensated the lack of humour. Special mention should be made of Manoj Paramahamsa’s cinematography and Rajeev’s art direction. The latter half could have been made much better. Repetition of the same dialogue over and over again makes life tedious. The climax within a film in the movie makes us wonder which the actual climax is.
This is not a film without faults. The faults are like spots in the face of a person we like. But those are no warts if one is in love. Indeed they are the marks that cause unexplainable thrills. Experiencing the sensations of love is much better than talking about it. This film is worth watching once at least just to experience such sensations.
