Films that grossed between Rs.5 and 10 crores

For the 131 films released during 2009 the producers havd invested a huge amount of Rs.510 crores.  But several films have not earned their investments back and as such only a loss to the producers.  Those that reached their original investments were only 10.  Only 5 films made profits for producers.  To run into loss year after year has become a ritual to producers.  It is a matter of concern that the Producers’ Sangam have not taken any action to control the stars who keep on increasing their salary knowing full well that their films have bombed.

The reasons for this are the stars’ greed to become crorepati just in one film, disunity and the unhealthy competition among producers.  It has become a routine in Kodabakkam that the new comers who form 70% of producers who in their popularity craze produce films with new faces and incur heavy loss.  Where is the redemption from the continued loss and the domination of TV channels that spoil the chances of small budget film producers?  Await our next analysis in-depth.
